Full House!

November 17, 2011 was our biggest fundraiser of the year at LaHarpe Davier Health Care Center.  Our annual Wreath Auction was held at 5:30 pm along with a soup supper.  Wreaths are handed out each year to our local businesses and organizations to be decorated and donated back to the facility for auction.  We had a full house that evening counting over 90 guests from our community and surrounding areas.  This year we had many beautiful wreaths brought into the facility.  We even had some families and clubs buy their own wreath and donate to the cause as well. All proceeds that evening went to the St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.  We raised over $1,000 that evening.  Rodney Cratsenberg was our auctioneer again this year and did a wonderful job as he always does.  We not only had wreaths that evening, but a snowman to raffle as well.  Ralph Irish, the son of Janie Irish, makes all sorts of decorations out of gourds.  This particular one was made into the most creative and beautiful snowman.  He donated his craft to be raffled off to help raise more money.  The food was delicious, the wreaths were stunning and the crowd was heart warming.  We look forward to another Wreath Auction next year and many more to come in the future.

Lakewood Village

Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

Lakewood Village has been busy with many events recently. In October we took a trip to the Pumpkin Patch in Arthur Il. We enjoyed the different pumpkins in all their shapes and sizes. We even saw a pumpkin over 1000 lbs! We picked out some pumpkins to carve and decorate our building. Residents enjoyed carving our pumpkin and roasting the seeds too! Also in October we hosted a family night and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows over a warm fire. The marshmallows were a sticky but very tasty treat!

We enjoy our weekly outings too. From taking a drive in the country, to dining at our favorite restaurants.
