MONMOUTH — Toni Tatro, certified nurse’s aide and event coordinator at the Courtyard Estates of Monmouth, was recently recognized during National Activity Professionals Week.

Tatro has worked at the Courtyard Estates for the past four years, and before that, in both Monmouth and Roseville. Born in Rylander, Wis., and raised in Green Bay, Tatro and her family moved to Illinois during her eight grade. After doing “a little bit or this, a little bit of that,” Tatro decided to become a nurses aide. “I thought why not? I’ll always have a job,” she said.
Tatro took a six week class at Carl Sandburg College to become a certified nurse’s aide.

“I enjoy my tenants, enjoy my boss, I like doing my job. I just like everything about it,” Tatro said. “I am glad to work at a place like Courtyard Estates of Monmouth. I am happy to make them a part of our family.”

Courtyard Director Carie Widener was proud of Tatro.

“Activity professionals are the heartbeat of the facility. They continuously share their enthusiasm, creativity, spirit and compassion. We are lucky to have Toni as part of our winning team,” Widener said.

Tatro said he goal for the future is to “grow old happy.”

Valentines Day:

On Feb. 18, tenants at Courtyard Estates of Monmouth attended the Sweetheart Social. John Adair and Doreen Helm were announced as king and queen. Shorty and Lucille Harris were elected as prince and princess. Votes were cast through penny votes, and Courtyard Estates raised more than $300 for their events department.
