Mr. Petersen,

I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know about a recent experience I had with care for a loved one at Royal Oaks Care Center in Kewanee, IL.

My uncle, Raymond “Peewee”  Franklin was transferred to Royal Oaks for Rehabilitation after spending over 3 weeks in OSF Hospital.  I was very hesitant about transferring him to a facility of this nature, as I have not had the best experiences at care centers like this in the past.  I want to let you know how impressed I was with the care that he received while he was there!  From the moment he arrived at Royal Oaks, until the day he left 3 weeks later, I never encountered an employee who was anything other than helpful, gracious and friendly!!  In fact, Peewee improved dramactically within just a few days.

A few of the employees I would like to particlarly acknowledge are Shannon, Cindy and Angie Peach.

Shannon was at Royal Oaks to welcome Peewee and get him settled into his new room, even though it was her day off.  She was called in on the first night of his stay and asked to come in at around 2:00 a.m. to help when Peewee was getting agitated.  She did not hesitate to come in and help!

Cindy was an absolute “jewel”!  She would call me to let me know when something really positive and exciting would happen with Peewee’s condition.  She even called me from her home and talked with me for over 30 minutes once when she did not have time to get back to me during her shift.  This all eased my concerns and allowed me to rest easy at night.  Peewee was very happy at the facility and flourished!

Often times people are quick to complain about things that go wrong, but not as quick to give positive feedback about their experiences.  I feel that these ladies are very special and you are lucky to have them in your employ!  I just thought it important to give them the credit they deserve!!

To all of our cargivers. My family and I would just like to to give you a huge thanks! To take care of the elderly is not an easy task, but it can be one of the most rewarding jobs ever, and it takes SPECIAL people like you! That’s why we sincerely “thank you” for the care, kindness, and all the extras you have given our mother and father. We very much appreciate all you do! We also hope you have been able to get past our fathers “grumpy old man days”, and have gotten to know the wonderful, gentle, and funny man that we call and know him as our “dad”, or “gramps” :).. Thank you again so much. May God bless you all as your serve our cherished older generation.

I would just like to say thank you all for believing in me! Those small word descriptions, that people always seem to base there opinions on before meeting someone, isn’t always what truly is! You and your staff did not judge me upon my admission, but welcomed me with open arms, and understanding! Thank you all for the smile and joy you brought to me during my stay at ROCC.

It was a hard decision as to what nursing home to put my mother in. I can tell anyone you couldn’t get better or more loving care anywhere else…you all are so good to the people you watch over. Thank you, everyone.

I wanted to take a moment on behalf of myself and my entire family to say thank you for the wonderful care and support you all provided for my mom. Words cannot express my gratitude for all you did for her. I understand it is your job to provide care; however, it was so comforting to have her with people that I knew really cared about her and always had her best interest in mind.

Nursing home placement is never easy. There are circumstances, however, when such a decision is a little easier. Such was the case in our family. Our loved one decided on her own that she could no longer live independently and also realized that, regardless of how much we wanted to, we were unable to provide 24/7 total care.

The facility for placement was never discussed. It was automatically understood that her choice would be Royal Oaks. Why? She had placed my father there a few years prior, and knew several residents as well as employees, and had heard and seen all of the positive comments about it. Royal Oaks has been a God sent to us, and we know when the time comes, where my husband and myself will be residing!

Dear Royal Oaks
This letter will not come close to expressing my sincere gratitude to you and the entire staff, at Royal Oaks Care Center. But please do know that the words come from the bottom of my heart.

The exceptional care and thoughtfulness given, not only to my Mother, but to me will never be forgotten. In the yearsus being there, we have gained many friendships and gotten to know one another pretty well.

I had never experienced a nursing home setting for a loved one and it was all so new to me. Your staff, no matter how busy they were, took the time to be patient and understanding of any concerns that I had; The time to explain, the time to comfort, the time to understand. Through those experiences I have gained the knowledge and respect of just how much constant care and effort that it takes from so many people to insure the safe keeping of just one patient. It is a job that takes much patience, teamwork and professionalism with leadership at the highest of levels.

To the staff members, the fellow patients and their family members, please know that I will forever treasure your friendship. You made a difficult situation bearable. Please accept my deep appreciation for the commitment and exceptional devotion to “make life the best that it can be” for those individuals that seek care at Royal Oaks Care Center.

I can never thank all of you enough for all that you did for my family. Your staff got both my brother and our entire family through an extremely difficult time when my brother was initially there. If it were not for the excellent professional care, thoughtfulness and genuine concern exhibited by the staff, I honestly do not know what we would have done. I truly never had to worry about my brother because they took such great care of him, and in a way took care of us, because we were at peace knowing our brother was in good hands and safe!!
