Springfield, IL – The Illinois Health Care Association (IHCA) has announced the appointment of three new members to the IHCA Board of Directors. The Board acts as the governing body of the association and is comprised of 11 members that represent IHCA’s varied membership. Jeffrey Amann of HCR ManorCare, Patricia Hubbard of Barry Community Care Center and Greg Wilson of Petersen Health Care were appointed to serve as members of the Board at the 63rd Annual IHCA Convention and Trade Show in September. Palm Terrace of Mattoon On September 11, 2013, Palm Terrace of Mattoon had their annual “Cookie Run”. Social Service Director, Dee Dee Althoff, Activity Director, Elizabeth Wilhelm, and Administrator in Training, Cindy Crable, completed the “Cookie Run”. This is an annual event that Palm Terrace of Mattoon holds on 9/11, delivering cookies to all of the fire stations, Police stations, EMS stations, ambulance companies, and emergency dispatch personnel in Mattoon. The annual “Cookie Run” is to show PalmTerrace’s appreciation for these first responders. On September 6th 2013, Palm Terrace of Mattoon assisted the Coles County Life Span Center in sponsoring the Inaugural Rockin Blues and BBQ Festival. Courtyard Estates of Peoria hosted an All You Can Eat Pancake and Sausage Breakfast on September 8th that recognized National Grandparent’s Day. Courtyard Estates of Peoria teamed up with Neighborhood House to celebrate the community’s grandparents and their families. In addition to the Pancake Breakfast, the event held a raffle drawing with prizes varying from hand made quilts to local restaurant gift cards. Between the raffle drawing and the tickets sold, the event raised over 500 dollars! All proceeds were donated to Neighborhood House’s Senior Program which serves local seniors. Neighborhood House has been an asset to the Peoria Community since 1896. Willow Rose Rehab & Health Care Travels Back In Time Willow Rose residents and staff traveled back in time on Friday by having a 50’s themed sock hop. The fun filled day included dancing, limbo, bubble gum chewing contest, hula hoop contest, homemade root beer floats and much more. As you can see in the photos the residents and staff had a great time dancing to such classics by Elvis, Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis and many more.
