Toulon Rehabilitation & Health Care Center Toulon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center announces their upcoming 7th Annual Hog Roast Fundraiser. Toulon Rehab will be hosting the fundraiser from 3-7 pm on Saturday, July 13th, 2013 at the facility on the front lawn located on HWY 17 East. “Our event will help raise funds for our very own Robert Esposito Alzheimer’s Specialty Unit, as well as, the Central Illinois Chapter Alzheimer’s Association, stated Amy Belsky, Community Relations Coordinator for the facility. “It is that time of year again, and we are in active planning mode for this grand event”, stated Belsky. Palm Terrace of Mattoon Mattoon Middle School band students entertained the residents and staff at Palm Terrace Thursday by performing several selections including “Stayin’ Alive,” “Tequila,” “Louie, Louie,” and “Wipeout.” MMS students walked in formation from Mattoon Middle School along Ninth Street, onto Rudy Avenue and then to Palm A venue. Mattoon Police provided an escort to assist withtraffic. Palm Terrace residents and staff gathered outside anticipating the band’s arrival. The bandlined up in front of the residents and performed. After the performance, several of thestudents said hello to the residents and introduced themselves. Courtyard Estates of Peoria gets geared up to celebrate 2013 Supportive Living Week. All across the state of Illinois Supportive Living facilities will be celebrating the success and benefits of the Supportive Living Program. There will be games, competitions, entertainment, socials, and open houses scheduled April 22nd-April 26th that marks the annual celebration of Supportive Living. Local Courtyard Estates of Peoria is one of the many supportive living homes in Illinois that will be participating in the 2013 Supportive Living Week celebration. This widely recognized event spotlights all 138 Supportive Living communities in the state of Illinois whose focus is to provide high quality care at an affordable price. Courtyard Estates of Bushnell recently hosted their second “Fish Fry”. The event offered dine-in, as well as carry-out, and FREE delivery service. The meal included fried catfish, homemade potato salad, baked beans, roll/butter & drink- all for only $6.00. The fry was held to honor all the quick response and awesome service from the Bushnell Fire & Rescue Squad. Courtyard provided a free dinner to each of the volunteers from the Bushnell Response team, to thank them for their service to our community. The proceeds from the “Fish Fry” were divided equally between the Bushnell Fire & Rescue Squad and the Bushnell Recreation & Cultural Center. We were happy to raise almost $450.00 for each group.
Robings Manor Robings Manor Nursing Home of Brighton, IL crowned its annual king and queen Thursday, February 14, 2013, Valentine’s Day. The winners this year were Mr. Jess “Bud” Foley (King), of Wood River, IL and Mrs. Mattie Wilson (Queen), of Alton, IL. There were three candidates on both sides vying to be crowned. Those running for queen were Mrs. Mattie Wilson, Alton, IL, Mrs. Lillian Hedges, Wood River, IL and Mrs. Virginia Bennett, Brighton, IL.
