Our residents have been keeping busy this time of year. In September we were invited to the “Long Term Golden Games” in Quincy. It is held at their senior center. Facilities from all over were invited to attend. They provided all sorts of games for the residents to play and they won tickets to purchase items later in the day. On August 23rd, 2012 Piper City Rehab and Courtyard Estates hosted our Annual Ladies Luncheon. We have done this every year and each year it has grown, with 52 ladies in attendance for 2012. Staff made 23 different side dishes for all to share along with pies made by Joan Smith. Monmouth, Ill. — The world has come a long way since Albert Harris was born 100 years ago on Aug. 7, 1912.
Harris celebrated his centennial birthday Tuesday at his Monmouth home in Courtyard Estates.
“I’ve done everything you can think of,” Harris said.
When asked for words of wisdom, Harris replied, “Don’t smoke, don’t drink. I never did either. I think it paid off.”
