Collinsville Rehab and Health Care:

NNHW At Collinsville

May 8-14, 2011 was National Nursing Home at Collinsville Rehab & Health Care Center. This Year we focused on bring care with a loving touch to all our residents and their families. We had themes for each day of the week and activities that residents, their families, volunteers, and staff members could participate in! We kicked off the week with a special Mothers Day tea for all of our mothers to enjoy. Monday was Hawaiian Luau Day where residents enjoyed dancing the hula and drinking umbrella drinks. Tuesday was 50’s day and everyone enjoyed root beer floats, hot dogs and classic 50’s music. The rest of the week included Western/Staff Appreciation day, Sports/Volunteer Appreciation day and Mexican Fiesta Day. Here at Collinsville Rehab and Health Care, our residents come first so to honor them, we decided to do an “Adopt a Resident” activity. Each employee was assigned a resident and throughout National Nursing Home Week our staff went above and beyond for their adopted resident. Our staff wrote what they did for their resident on a note card and placed it on a board next to their picture of them and their resident. It was a loving activity in which all departments were able to interact with the residents and really show how Collinsville Rehab and Health Care brings “Care with a Loving Touch.”

Piper City Rehab celebrated NNHW May 8th -14th with the theme “Love Boat”.  We sailed around the world in seven days.  Our first stop was Hawaii and that’s where we captured our Volunteer of the Year & Resident Volunteer of the year. Pictured (003) with Administrator Sharon Bargmann is Alan Hobl, Volunteer of the Year.  Alan comes 3 or 4x weekly and plays games with the Residents and lends a hand when needed.  Also not pictured is Resident Volunteer of the Year Joe Owen.  Joe has a love of gardening and making the grounds look so magnificent. All our Volunteers are Great Friends, Leaders and Huge part of our Rehab Family!  Thank You Volunteers!

Palm Terrace of Mattoon:

NNHW At Palm Terrace of Mattoon

At Palm Terrace of Mattoon, NNHW came in with a bang!  The week kicked off with Mattoon High Schools ROTC Color Guard  &  entertainment from Prairieland Pickers. On Tuesday  our local Mattoon Middle School Jazz Band performed for us & joined us in the balloon launch.  The windy day helped our balloons to soar through the air and show all the beautiful colored balloons.  Wednesday we had special furry visitors, the petting zoo came to the facility and our residents enjoyed feeding the baby buffalo & goats their bottles. We are still awaiting the arrival of the baby chicks that we have been incubating since April 21st!  What a week of excitement!
